A New Church For South Edmonton
Why do we exist?
Our Vision: We envision a church centred on the life of Jesus overflowing his redeeming grace and justice to our city and world.
Our Mission: To welcome households in South Edmonton to know and experience the transforming power of God’s grace found in Jesus Christ.
There is a tendency in the church today to uncritically embrace that its purpose is solely a provider of “spiritual goods and services”. This idea of consumerism has translated to the way we do life, ministry and relate to God also. Our vision is to challenge this culture with an aspiration for how God speaks of the “good life” in his kingdom through “the beatitudes” (Matthew 5:1-12) as well as centering around a king who gives up his life for his enemies to offer true and lasting life.
Edmonton, like any major city in Canada is diverse in its spiritual views (to a fault!) including the churched, unchurched, de-churched, bored, cynical, angry and exhausted views toward Christianity. Still, there remains a great opportunity in our city today for those desiring real and true community for the church to be a signpost of the hospitality and welcome of Jesus.
What do we prioritize?
A Worshipping Community: (our identity)
We strive to be a community formed in worship, and our worship deepened in community. The unconditional love of God, demonstrated & accomplished through Christ’s life, death & resurrection anchors us in a life of worship to the triune God.
A Discipling Community: (our journey)
Christians are saved to be conformed to the image of Christ. We believe that everyone is called to be a disciple of Christ living under his word and making disciples of Christ, encouraging the growth of the whole body.
A Relational Community: (our lifestyle)
God is the Divine Host who has called His people to “welcome one another as Christ has welcomed (us)” (Rom 15:7) This is demonstrated in a life of selfless love to those who are most different from us. We worship a God who died for His enemies (us), and that reality redefines our priorities around the needs of others rather than our own.
A Missional Community: (our passion)
Ultimately through the gospel of Jesus Christ we aim to see his renewal and redeeming presence of grace and justice grow in this world to all people and places.
